Masterflex apprentices help out
On the Social Day of the IHK in Gelsenkirchen more than 80 young people swarmed out to help. Right in the middle of it: Nine Masterflex trainees.
Looking outside the box - that was an intensive experience for most of the participants. Gelsenkirchen City Councillor Dr. Christopher Schmitt welcomed the more than 80 trainees from Masterflex, Gelsenwasser, Sabic, BP, NSG Group (Pilkington), Thyssen Krupp, Uniper and Voigt & Schweitzer (ZINQ) with the words: "I am sure that you will open up a whole new world for yourself today".
And Dr. Andreas Bastin, representative of the acceptance offensive In|du|strie of IHK Nord Westfalen and Chairman of the Board of Masterflex SE, added: "With campaigns like these we want to enter into a dialogue with people and show that we are also making contributions to our community.
After the welcoming speech, the trainees went to the agreed project locations. Putting gardens in order, painting walls, handing out food or playing with children. Helping where help is needed - that is often not enough in everyday life. The Masterflex trainees helped at two locations of the Gelsenkirchener Tafel and a municipal day care centre in Gelsenkirchen-Erle.
After six hours of joint work, the trainees from all companies met again in the Bonni district centre in Hassel. Here, too, trainees had painted rooms and cleaned the green areas as part of the Social Day. At the end of the day there was a meal together with the bosses, personnel managers and representatives of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
And there was much talk about the past social day, which - consciously or unconsciously - certainly broadened the horizon.
